A well-translated document has several characteristics, all of which sit at the heart of our document translation philosophy:
The cost to translate a document varies on several factors, including document size, word count, complexity, level of repetition, desired turnaround time, and more. The first step to finding out what you can expect to pay for a translation is to give us a ring or fill in our contact form: here you’ll give us details of the project along with the languages you want to translate from and to (you can select multiple).
We’ll then review the information you’ve given us, price up the project, and get back to you to discuss the next steps.
One of the many benefits of working with The Translation People is that for subsequent translations, we employ a range of methods to ensure a quicker and more streamlined process. By building a translation memory strategy for you, we are able to pass time and cost savings onto our customers.
Again, as with pricing, the time required for a translation varies between projects based on the size of the document, word count, complexity, turnaround time and other factors.
Here our recommendation is to get in touch and tell us about your project, including the deadline. We’ll review your information and get in touch to discuss timeframes, and you can make a decision equipped with this information whether or not to move forward.
We pride ourselves on setting clear expectations and working to them, meaning that if you decide to commission our services, clear timeframes will be set out at the project duration to help you schedule things accordingly at your side.
Also bear in mind that subsequent translations are made quicker and less expensive through the ongoing creation and use of a ‘translation memory’. Each translation for a client is saved into a database specific to your company, making future translations faster and allowing us to pass these savings onto you.
The list of document types we can translate is extensive. A non-exhaustive list of document types we have translated over the years includes company policies, contracts, bids and tenders; press releases; marketing content; technical specifications; clinical trials content, datasheets; product and software manuals; exhibition materials; eLearning content; presentations; websites reports; catalogues, and more.
If you have questions about a specific document type, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise whether it’s something we’re able to translate.
Whether you’re looking to translate a Word document, a Powerpoint presentation, a set of HTML files underpinning a website, or some more obscure file type, we can help. We have an in-house file engineering team that can devise workflows for and prepare even the most complex file formats, including software formats. At the project outset we’ll review the document type/s you’re looking to translate, and ensure we have the means to access, open, edit, and save the files for smooth delivery.
There are several different types of translation, including creative, professional, technical, software and administrative. Each carries a different nuance, and some are better suited than others to particular document types.
Creative translation, for example, is tasked with conveying the context, tone and emotion of words in a creative campaign, and will allow for more subjective interpretation than the translation of steps in a technical manual.
Rather than delve deep into the different types of translation, we’ll assure you instead that in all projects we look to preserve the meaning and purpose of all copy, while ensuring that any regional variations are represented in the text. This means an end result that will resonate with the reader in the same way as the original, whichever language they read it in.
When using free translation tools you’ll often find a limit on the number of words or characters you can translate. As well as other issues with free tools that we won’t go into here, this restriction is the one that users often find most limiting.
When translating a document whose length exceeds these limits, ask yourself the question of whether you want to entrust a free tool with the task of an accurate translation. In these situations it’s often far more effective to work with translation specialists, as they can draw on an extensive skill set and suite of technical solutions to deliver an accurate and impactful translation.
As above, translating large amounts of text is best done via the help of a specialist translation agency like The Translation People. We have the skills and the tools to plan, undertake, and deliver any translation project, and repeat projects with the same customer stand to benefit from the time and cost-saving techniques we employ, like our translation memory database. We also use other, secure AI-based technology solutions where large volumes are needed in a short space of time and with limited budgets, but these are always given a quality check by a human translator to ensure they have an appropriate level of quality.
We’re a trusted translation provider for many leading global brands as well as smaller businesses.
Whatever translation services you need, we’re here to help.
Whether you have a specific project you want to discuss, need a translation quote or simply want to discuss your requirements, do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
