Despite its small population and landmass, Denmark is a global player in many industries, including sea transport, pharmaceuticals, interior design and renewable energy. Denmark’s welfare system and high quality of life attracts investment from many foreign companies, many of which choose to base their research and development facilities in the country. This international environment creates a steady demand for Danish translations. Although international business is frequently conducted in English, moves are being made to ensure that the Danish language does not fall out of usage in this context and as a result, communication in Danish is essential when targeting local markets.
Our English to Danish translation projects are produced by our translation experts in a wide range of fields, including technical, legal, pharmaceutical, and financial. All our Danish translators have extensive professional translation experience and undergo a rigorous selection procedure.
Denmark’s strong position in the new ‘knowledge economy’ and its high competitiveness ranking is continuing to attract foreign investment. As a country with a heavy reliance on its export industries, Danish translations play an important role in the day to day running of many businesses.

Danish language – Did you know?
Danish is spoken by fewer than 6 million people worldwide, but thanks to the Vikings, its influence can still be seen in many modern European languages. Like Swedish, the Danish language is part of the East Nordic group and as a result the two languages share many similarities. In fact, speakers of the three main Scandinavian languages can often easily understand one another in conversation.
The Danes are fiercely proud of their language; the Dansk Sprognævn monitors the way in which the Danish language is evolving, determining which words can enter into the official language used by government institutions and which should remain as loan words. There is even a list of approved first names that parents must choose from when naming their child and an application must be made for any name out of the ordinary!
Danish has three unique letters: æ, ø and å, shared only with Norwegian, which make the language near impossible for a foreigner to pronounce.
At first glance, the Danish language is grammatically quite simple as verbs are conjugated according to tense and not by subject. This is complicated, however, by a large number of irregular verbs and by the grammatical gender of nouns. Despite only being taught in schools in Denmark, Iceland and the Danish communities of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, the Danish language is an official language of the EU and will continue to play an important role in international business.
