The Translation People toasts new European Contract
Manchester-based The Translation People is toasting its latest overseas contract win – to provide translation services to one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of packaging glass.
The business has secured a framework contract with Swiss company Vetropack – a leading glass manufacturer to the food and drinks industry. The company supplies major global brands with containers for beer, wine, soft drinks and food.
The Translation People’s role is to provide German to English translations for centrally-produced corporate documents that are circulated to Vetropack’s seven production sites in: Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and the Ukraine.
The manufacturer took the landmark decision to change its corporate language from German to English to assist employees at its most recently acquired production facility in the Ukraine, where more people have English rather than German as their second language. In addition to new documents, all pre-existing Group documentation is being translated into English.
The Translation People has already completed a number of corporate documents – covering central policies and procedures around quality and HR – and will continue to receive ongoing projects as part of the framework agreement.
The business has also received a new brief from Vetropack’s marketing department, to translate a customer newsletter.
Steve Wilde, Managing Director of The Translation People, said: “This is a significant contract which demonstrates that, at the same time as helping our clients to grow their businesses overseas, we are also expanding our own exports.”
“Winning this contract was a direct result of our strategy to actively pursue more overseas business. We put a great deal of effort into the process, including taking the time to visit the client in Switzerland, and I believe this face-to-face approach really paid off.”
Alan White, Branch Manager of The Translation People’s Manchester office, which is co-ordinating the Vetropack projects, added: “We are undertaking the translation work using our in-house teams, to ensure consistency and to build up our knowledge of the client’s preferred terminology and style.”
Vetropack Holding Ltd, commented: “The Translation People impressed us with the speed and quality of its work, and the comprehensive range of translation services on offer.”
“The team respond quickly to enquiries, have been flexible in prioritising urgent jobs, and we know we can rely on them for prompt and exact delivery of documents. We are delighted to have them on board.”
