What is Chuchotage/whispered interpreting?
Chuchotage interpreting, also called “whispered interpreting”, is when an interpreter sits besides one or two target audience members at a conference or meeting and whispers the target language simultaneously or consecutively.
This is ideal for times when only one or two audience members do not understand the source language, however is hard on the interpreters’ vocal cords and so is best for short speeches.
