Global Sales & Marketing Director, Hydronix

Being able to explain our complicated requirements and having them understood has made the process smoother and quicker. It’s removed a great deal of stress and enabled Hydronix to provide quality documentation to our customers all around the world.

About the client / project

Hydronix is the world’s leading manufacturer of digital microwave moisture measurement sensors and has installed more than 75,000 units across a wide range of industries. Their sensors are used in sectors such as concrete, aggregates and asphalt, and organic materials including grain, nuts, oils and biomass products.

  • Partnership since 2016
  • Seeking a responsive, UK-based partner that could meet fast turnaround times and understand their complex requirements

The challenge

Hydronix’s sensors are used in real production environments, where clear and accurate documentation is essential for installation, setup and day-to-day operation. As the company expanded internationally, they needed to translate an increasing volume of technical manuals, software interfaces and marketing materials into 24 languages. The content included specialised engineering terminology and software references, so consistency across documentation and systems was critical.

Hydronix was also looking for a more responsive localisation partner. Their previous provider relied on overseas account management, which often slowed communication and made it harder to resolve technical questions quickly. They were looking for a UK-based team that could understand their products, respond promptly and support ongoing localisation alongside product releases and global growth.

The solution

The Translation People began by reviewing Hydronix’s existing technical documentation and previously translated materials. Dedicated Translation Memories and a validated technical glossary were created to capture Hydronix’s engineering terminology, software interface language and product-specific concepts. These linguistic assets provided a consistent foundation across manuals, software and customer-facing content.

Specialist technical linguists with experience in engineering and industrial equipment were assigned to the project. Each translation followed a structured workflow with independent linguistic review, ensuring documentation remained clear and accurate for engineers, operators and distributors in every market.

As Hydronix expanded its product range, localisation requirements grew to include software strings, interface elements and supporting documentation. These formats required careful handling to maintain alignment between software interfaces and the manuals referencing them. The dedicated UK-based account management team worked closely with Hydronix to resolve queries quickly and keep localisation aligned with product releases.

Over time, Translation Memory and glossary assets allowed approved translations to be reused automatically, improving consistency and reducing duplication. These assets also allowed AI- and machine translation-supported workflows to be introduced for suitable content types, with specialist linguists reviewing output before delivery.

The result

Hydronix now benefits from a structured localisation process that supports product documentation, software interfaces and marketing content across 24 languages. Consistent terminology across manuals and software has improved clarity for customers, distributors and operators worldwide.

Translation Memory allows approved translations to be reused, reducing duplication and helping localisation keep pace with product updates. Controlled AI- and machine translation workflows are available for suitable content types, with specialist linguists reviewing output to maintain technical accuracy.

Hydronix can now release multilingual documentation and software updates alongside product launches, supporting international expansion and improving the usability of its equipment across global markets.

The experience

Hydronix has worked with The Translation People for almost a decade, building a partnership grounded in technical understanding and consistent day-to-day collaboration.

A dedicated UK-based account manager acts as a single point of contact, familiar with Hydronix’s products, documentation and release cycles. This continuity makes it easier to manage new projects, resolve queries quickly and keep localisation aligned with product development.

As Hydronix’s needs have evolved, so has the localisation approach. Established Translation Memories, technical glossaries and specialist linguists continue to provide consistency, while new technologies, including AI-supported workflows, have been introduced where appropriate to handle growing volumes and software updates efficiently.
